As we watch the snow melt from our latest winter storm and brace ourselves for another polar vortex to descend upon the upper Midwest, we find ourselves looking ahead to that warmer season and vacation time with the family.

For many people, that tradition of summer vacation includes time away from home at one of Minnesota's many resorts.  Here in lakes country there are still many options, so late last year we took our cameras and visited three family-owned and family-oriented businesses in Douglas, Grant and Otter Tail Counties: Buck Point Resort on Lake Osakis, Ashby Resort on Pelican Lake, and The Lodge on Otter Tail Lake.  These are all delightful places, very clean and usually pretty full.  Most importantly, they are run by warm and friendly families, as I hope you can tell from our video.  Our special thanks to Mike and Diane Bovee at Ashby Resort; Paul and Debbie Ness, Denny and Diane Jones at The Lodge; Brad and Linette Forsell at Buck Point for sharing their stories with us.

Denny and Diane Jones, with their granddaughter and helper, Madison.

If you're planning a family get-away and looking for a quaint setting I hope you'll check with one of these places for availability.
